Nine Ways to Communicate Better
With Your Husband

Couples who communicate effectively are more likely to have a strong and lasting relationship. Communication is hard enough but it’s even harder to communicate better with your husband because it’s easy to misunderstand, interpret things negatively, push each other’s buttons or get your feelings hurt easily.

If you’re looking for ways to improve communication with your husband, read on for nine tips that can help you communicate better with your husband.

Here Are Nine Ways to Communicate Better
With Your Husband

1. Talk openly and honestly. Don’t hold back or keep things bottled up. If there’s something on your mind, share it with your husband. The same goes for him – he should feel free to share anything with you.

2. Avoid assumptions and listen carefully. When your husband is talking, make an effort to really listen to what he’s saying. Don’t assume you know what he’s going to say or jump to conclusions.

3. Be patient and don’t criticize. It can take time to communicate effectively, so be patient with each other. And remember, it’s never helpful to criticize your spouse – it just creates tension and animosity.

4. Use “I” statements. When you’re communicating your feelings, use “I” statements instead of “you” statements. For example, “I feel frustrated when you don’t take my suggestions into account” is better than “You never listen to me.” ways to communicate better with your husband

5. Be aware of your body language. Your body language can send just as strong a message as your words do, so be conscious of how you’re standing, folding your arms, etc. Try to avoid closed-off body language and behave in a way that shows you’re open to communication.

6. Respect your husband’s opinions. Even if you don’t agree with your husband, always try to respect his opinions. After all, he’s entitled to his own thoughts and feelings – just as you are yours.

7. Don’t interrupt and let him finish speaking. This one may be tough for some people, but it’s important to resist the urge to interrupt your husband when he’s talking (or worse yet, finish his sentences for him). ways to communicate better with your husband

Let him finish speaking before chiming in with your thoughts or opinions, or just refrain from sharing your opinions and acknowledge what he is saying instead.

8 Take breaks if needed.” Sometimes it can be helpful to take a break from communicating if things get too heated or intense, especially if he has just come home from work. This can give both of you a chance to calm down and approach the conversation from a more rational standpoint.

9 . Seek professional help if needed.” If communication problems seem insurmountable or are causing serious tension in your marriage, it might be time to seek professional help from a relationship coach who is professionally trained to work with couples and communication skill building.

Hi, I’m Dr. Dar…

If I could share just one thing with you today, let it be this: you have the power to shape your relationship into what you want it to be.

I am Dar, the Relationship Healer. I help couples to solve the communication and relationship issues that could potentially tear them apart.

Until I started on the coaching path that led to my formulation of the Relationship Languages, most of the problems in my life had been due to problematic relationships… relationships where I felt unable to communicate, where I was not being heard, where I was not feeling understood.

I have learned that, to create happy, healthy, and harmonious relationships even when you have differences, you have to learn how to give and receive communication in a healthy way. You have to feel safe expressing how you feel and what you need.

That’s the beauty of the Relationship Languages. Once understood, they are the key to safe, curious communication.

I’m here to help you on your journey to understanding and being understood.

From my heart to yours,
Dr.
